Current opportunity at Emerson:
Do you like books? Do you like organizing? The Emerson school library is seeking adult volunteers to help organize and re-shelve our books. Any amount of time you can help during the week would make a big difference in getting reading material back into the hands of our students. Please contact Tina, our school librarian, at 204-2009 if you are interested in this opportunity. Thank you!
Strengthening community and family partnerships is one of the Madison Metropolitan School District's key strategic priorities. The district welcomes community involvement in its schools and partnership programs, and encourages interested individuals to explore the range of options available.
Info for Tutors and Mentors
Thank you for exploring volunteer opportunities with the Madison school district. We appreciate your interest in supporting Madison's students, and look forward to working with you in the near future.
This year, we have a variety of options for new and continuing volunteers in school and community-based programs, where we work collaboratively with local agencies to provide academic services. Volunteers are matched with pre-school, elementary, middle or high schools based on their interests, geographic preferences and availability. Usually, we can place volunteers who are available at least one hour per week or more between the hours of 7:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. We may have a limited possibility of evening hours, but usually do not have options for weekend hours.
New volunteers working in some programs (literacy and algebra tutoring, for example) will be asked to attend a training session when they begin their work. Workshops are offered throughout the year, and once you are signed up, you will be notified when these are scheduled.
